A beautiful watercolour of fishermen and a rough sea near the Welsh town Holyhead by Dutch artist Willem G.F. Jansen (1871-1949). Singned and dated 1923. W.G.F. Jansen studied at the Arts and Crafts School in Haarlem. He started as a painter at the famous porcelain factory Rozenburg in The Hague before settling as an independent artist of beach scenes, meadow and moor landscapes, all much influenced by the style of the Hague School. Willem Jansen’s works are characterized by the use of beautiful color nuances. Inscription on reverse: 'near Holyhead North W'. Including frame: 65 x 44 cm.
